FAQs — Brazil Cataguá

How should I enjoy Brazil Cataguá?

A very versatile, easy-drinking coffee. Black, its creamy chocolate and nutty notes come to the fore. With milk — in a flat white or cortado — its smooth body and low acidity make it especially enjoyable.

Is it a strong or mild coffee?

It is a medium-intensity coffee with a smooth body and low acidity. It is neither bitter nor harsh. It is the kind of coffee you can drink at any time of day without it feeling heavy — ideal as an everyday coffee and for anyone who prefers more classic, comforting profiles.

Is it good for espresso?

Yes, it is one of its best uses. Cataguá's natural process and low acidity produce a creamy, sweet espresso with a long chocolate finish. It works beautifully on its own and as a base for cortados and other milk drinks.

Is it available whole bean or ground?

Available as whole bean or ground for espresso, moka pot, filter and French press. Choose your option when adding it to your basket.

Does it have a lot of caffeine?

Like all Arabicas, it has a moderate caffeine level, lower than commercial Robustas. Perceived strength depends more on the brew method and the amount of coffee used than on the origin itself.

What's the difference between specialty coffee and regular coffee?

Specialty coffee is selected by origin, variety and process, with full traceability back to the farm or cooperative. It is roasted lighter to preserve the bean's own notes, without the bitterness of industrial dark roasts. The result is a defect-free cup with well-defined flavours.

What is the natural process in coffee?

In the natural process, the coffee bean is dried inside the whole cherry, without pulping. During drying, the bean absorbs sugars from the fruit, resulting in sweeter, creamier and fuller-bodied profiles. It is Brazil's traditional process and explains Cataguá's characteristic chocolate and nutty notes.

Can I use it for cold brew?

Yes, although it is not its strong point. Coffees with more acidity tend to work better as cold brew. That said, Cataguá brewed cold gives a sweet, smooth result — perfect if you don't like very acidic cold brews.

How should I store my coffee?

In a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Not in the fridge — moisture affects the flavour. Reseal the bag tightly after each use to prevent oxidation.

What is the shelf life?

Best enjoyed within 9 months of the roast date shown on the bag, when it is at its peak.
